Tom Shanks

Tom Shanks has done many interesting things in his long career as a professional artist: He was a designer with the famous Templeton Carpet Company, and spent 8 years with the prestigious Edinburgh Weavers Dovecote Studio. For over 50 years he has delighted viewers and collectors with his portrayals of the Scottish mountains, lochs and rivers. There surely cannot be many artists who know and understand the character of these as intimately and affectionately as he does. He one explained to us that, although he shares people’s love of the landscape on clear, sunny, colourful days, he equally admires the scene in rainy, misty conditions, which are also so typical of the Scottish scene.
